There has been some talk on this but I haven't seen anything concrete on what's going on. One of the staples of BYU defenses during the kalani tenure is that one a starter or two goes down it's really not the next man up... the coaching staff moves people all around, into different positions they havn't practiced at all or don't know, in an attempt to "getting the best 11 on the field". The trade off seems to be getting the more physically ready/stout players all on the field, even if it comes with players not knowing the positions as well as they should. I think for the most part this has worked well... but there are certainly trade offs.
However... I can't get past this one. Chaz ah You. Why in the world did he only play 20ish snaps on Saturday? And was essentially a back up LB. He trained all off season to play safety, and we had two safeties out in this game (hanneman and Udo)... seems like the perfect time to move him back to safety. Is he not one of our best 11 guys? Did he mess up that badly in the Baylor game? I find these things hard to believe and feel like this is just a total mistake... has he gained too much wieght since moving to LB to be moved back to safety? what is it? Chaz has to be one of the best 11... from my untrained eye.
Please any insight from the board would be welcomed.
