Elder Holland has much thicker skin than GoMo will ever have.
GoMo's self-created journalistic persona is the epitomy of the click-bait "I'm the victim" martyrdom he's been peddling in the Northern Utah media for 30 years in newspapers, TV, and radio along with his trolling schtick. He is the poster-boy for Tribune column writers and their desire to mold their columnists into special interest-specific versions of Peggy Fletcher Stack, at least on paper. By almost every account I've heard from contacts that know him personally, he is intentionally two-faced in this regard: on one hand, he is the friendly, loving, cordial former high councilman from the Mount Olympus Stake; on the other, GoMo from the high and mighty "there must be all opposition in all things" Trib, feigned moral outragist of all things BYU and its sponsoring institution.
By all accounts he also wears his Trib pseudoynm like a Halloween costume, takes it off when he leaves the office, and made mint starting up the Zone stations 20 years ago.
If he was a decent, talented, thoughtful writer, this would be different, but he is not — GoMo the journalist is a button presser, always has been, nothing more. His MO is so old now it is reaching Methusaleh proportions . . . he's been doing the same thing for 3 decades.
That fact that we are creating yet another response thread to his inane writings shows that he is quite good at this, obviously. He is, once again, the story. As an alumni, he knows how to push our buttons and he's gotten a lot of clickbait from BYU fans over the years with this approach.
It would have been so much better if he had just gone off into the sunset without any explanation whatsoever, but no — media figures with this type of public narcisissm simply can't let things like this go without an "explanation." Please.
Besides, there's more money to be made in the Yewt fan market in SLC that licks this stuff up.
GO COUGS.
