Clemson was nobody ten years ago. They were in a P5 conference, but besides that, they weren’t relevant. Then Dabo came in, like Few, and built something great.
But Gonzaga’s rise is because of Few, not because of some magical parity that comes from an expanded playoff.
And you’re right, there aren’t many opportunities for G5 schools with the 4 team playoff. And if there was a G5 football school like Gonzaga, they should get into an 8 or 16 team playoff. And they would. But what I’m saying is that a team like UAB or Ball State shouldn’t automatically get in just because they won their conference.
