Data with Links - $4.32M for BYU from broadcast revenue/rights
2019-2020 BYU Athletic Revenue was $72M for all sports (
https://www.heraldextra.com/sports/college/byu/basketball/men/inside-darnells-head-financial-hit-from-covid-19-significant-for-byu-athletics/article_934912a8-60f2-5eca-b0bd-df13f7d9abef.html#:~:text=The%20report%20does%20include%20percentages,compared%20to%20most%20P5%20schools
.)
Now consider that 6% of that revenue came from broadcast revenue (
https://kslsports.com/437719/byu-revenue-expenses-athletics/
? or also in the earlier linked article)
6% of $72M is $4.32M, which means that ALL broadcast revenue came out to $4.32 million, which is actually substantially less than the AAC teams are getting ($7M/school/year just for football)

I'd guess what BYU gets is higher than the average for the AAC.

Doubt it.

12/22/20 11:54am
Now take the new schedules for home games v. the old into consideration. That is what ESPN is paying for.
Turnpike Lane
12/22/20 11:55am
Yup. Getting 7 P5s, many out of conference, is a big benefit to ESPN.

Think the big issue is that they're almost all road games

Travel is hard. This has been sitake's strength so far though.

How dare you post something from a news outlet using credible estimates and analysis compared to

I'm not saying exposure is a bad thing but I think BYU fans overvalue "exposure"
pinolero
12/22/20 11:54am
The exposure is for BYU and the Church not for BYU fans.
BornNotBuilt
12/22/20 11:57am
No - it's definitely for fans too (as well as recruits.)

12/22/20 12:16pm
EXPOSURE is for BYU and the Church; ACCESS is for the fans
Doogal McCougar

BYU fans value exposure b/c that's what BOT/Admin/Church values

Sure, I just think BYU would get plenty of TV exposure in the AAC.

Isn't BYU's deal for football only, basketball is with WCC. The AAC deal is for
JONBOY

Basketball likely isn’t nearly as much revenue as you think

I wonder how big the basketball tv deal is. And how much we'd cut out of AAC

Since you don't know how much BYU is making on their TV deal, we could probably

KSL estimated the last deal was $6 million per year. Considering the source that is probably a pretty credible estimate

Data from disclosures puts $ at $4.3-$4.5 million from ESPN
