There is a possibility of having a stripe down the middle of lanes on the interstates that provide power to vehicles (think the old slot race cars but without an actual track). It probably can't provide the juice for perpetual trips but could extend range on EVs... particularly on heavy haul EVs... to something much better for long distance travel.

If you couple this with some of the solar panel in road solutions that have been kicked around for the last couple of decades you could really turn the tide against IC engines.
