We may hate being in the West Coast Conference, but after listening to Burns and Gambo on Arizona Sports I can't help but feel better about our fortunes. They basically spent half their program just crucifying the "Conference of Champions". They predicted that the Pac 12 will become the first power conference to only get one team in the NCAA tourney. In fact, other than the Pac 12, no other power conference has had fewer than 3 teams make the tourney. The only way they get a second team in is if Arizona State goes 5-1 to finish the season AND makes it to the Pac 12 championship game...spoiler, it's not going to happen. Oh, and our team that will get in (Gonzaga) is way better than theirs (Washington). Went on about how embarrassing this all is given the revenue the conference brings in, and given the difference in revenue and gym size, we are showing them up.

I don't know why, maybe it's the fact that Ute fans are so obsessed with using their conference affiliation to justify their worth (something that truly good programs have no need to do). Maybe its the ridiculous number of Pac 12 banners I see as I drive to work in Salt Lake City (which for some reason seem to outnumber Utah banners). Maybe it's how friends from back home in Arizona seem to talk about non-stop about how amazing the "Conference of Champions" is despite lagging far behind the other P5 leagues. Either way, I get a lot of satisfaction at watching the dumpster fire that is the Pac 12.
