Although I only knew him for that brief time, we had so much fun that summer:
Ultimate, volleyball, late night movies, chicken enchiladas, shooting clay pigeons, concussions (me), broken bones (him), rock climbing, softball, Cafe Rio, epic water fights in the quad, epic pillow fights, Jake constantly stealing my water bottle (hence the water fights), Jake constantly stealing my camera...
...easily my best time at BYU. Jake and his roommates were a big part of that.
He was so fun, kind, well-spoken, funny, and one of the most Christ-like people ever. He and his roommate Mark volunteered last minute for Special Olympics because my committee desperately needed help. They saved me! And he gave me more than a few rides to see my family in Salt Lake just so I wouldn't be stuck on a bus.
He also was the slowest eater I've ever met. He was so methodical. It took him 25 minutes to eat a hamburger. I literally timed him once (only because we were sitting in the parking lot at Food4Less and the store was about to close!)
I'm so sorry for your loss and for his sweet wife and kids. I spoke to him once after he started dating her and from that conversation I knew she clearly is an incredible woman! I'm so sad for her and their children. They especially will be in my prayers.
This breaks my heart to read this news; I can't imagine what you are all going through. I'm so, so sorry.
