Stay away from the East/SouthEast corner of the Spectrum and you will be fine...
I went to a ton of games (albeit back in the early 2000s) and the south side student section was really, really loud but not profane or mean. All the blue hairs sit on the north side and I see a lot of families on the west side.

Fortunately there hasn't been an issue like Davies or Hadley in the new recently, so hopefully our AD won't have to make us apologize to the BYU team and fanbase after the game. I am all for spirited banter as long as it isn't crude or profane (mean is OK).

Good ESPN article from years ago about basketball in Utah
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/columns/story?columnist=graney_ed&id=1645916
From the article: "It's almost part of the religion," said Utah coach Rick Majerus. "There are good Mormons, rogue Mormons, drunk Mormons, polygamy Mormons. But one thing they all have in common is basketball ... This didn't happen overnight. This has been a good basketball state for a long time."
