The way I read it, it seems to me that the full offer was after he
turned down the first. not to get at BYU. I read it to say he tried to get him more or less as a consultant to help BJ and when he said no to the offer he offered it full time.
Kyle did not want to throw BJ under the bus unless absolutely necessary. Maybe I read it wrong but that is how I saw it
