Do people realize that there are thousands of fans across
the country for other teams that don't get to see their team play either? If you're a USC fan in Texas you're out of luck most of the time for example.

It depends on what you want for BYU. If you don't care that BYU has a chance at BCS access then them being in a BCS conference doesn't matter. If you just want to see them play, then you have what you want right now in independence.

How do both of these affect BYU football and, in turn, will affect the oly sports as well?

I'm of the opinion that, as long as the BCS exists, you have to be a part of it. If you're not you will eventually fall as an independent. The only exception is Notre Dame because they have an AQ bid if they're ranked 8th or higher. If you don't have that you're done imo.

Sure BYU will get more money, more exposure, blah, blah, blah. What is it that BYU should really want though? What should its fans out of state want? They should want for BYU to be successful and at the highest levels. That's not going to happen as an indy. Many try to paint a pretty picture for indy, but any way that they try to make it look good does not even come close to the fact that you have access to the best bowls, an awesome schedule every year, and a shot to go to a BCS bowl game or even the NC and not even have to be undefeated.

It all looks pretty selfish if you ask me and BYU is actually part of it, not different. They'd rather have the $ and partnership with ESPN then to look at this from a competitive standpoint. That's the way I see it.
