Ok, but if you're the Pelicans and have season ending injuries to your top 4
best players, you get screwed because some team that's better than you didn't get injured. How's that fair to them?
There's absolutely no way a top playoff team should get a shot at a top prospect coming out of the draft. Imagine the Thunder getting Flagg after this season? Or the KD Warriors getting young Luka? Maybe the 7 or 8 seeds should be able to get in the lottery, but then you have teams in the East with zero chance of winning the playoffs who will tank from the 6th seed to get there.
I don't know how you fix it, but giving playoff teams picks is not it.

OKC didn't build their team by tanking. Their high picks are not the cornerstones of their team by any means.
