I hate the new trend of big 2000+ sq foot houses on tiny lots.
It’s not everywhere, but a lot of developments are packing in big houses side by side with virtually no lot or yard.

It’s impossible to find 1,300-1,500 sq foot new build homes with a good lot size. I wish we had more of the small homes with basic finishes. And just modest yards, nothing huge.

Of course, in many areas, the lingering distortions from rate repression make it almost impossible to buy even the smaller old houses. I’d love a 1,500 sq foot 1950’s house to renovate, but nearly every one I’ve looked at in my area that’s not a tear down is over half a million for a 70 year old house. It’s nuts.
