Yamaha FG 800 is a solid choice. You also might want to consider Fender CD-60S
It has a solid Mahogany top vs. spruce. I prefer the sound/tone of mahogany vs. spruce, but it is totally personal preference. Both are very playable guitars and are stretching the definition of 'beginner', as both can last you many years as you improve.

What other posters said is true... stay away from Yamaha's bottom end, but their mid-range guitars are really good bang for the buck.
