The really cheap Yamahas are just that...Really Cheap. But in terms of bang for the buck, I have been really impressed by Yamaha's sort of mid range entry guitars (like the FG 820).

I also really like Epiphones and D'Angelico:





Both of these are a bit higher end. But really trusted brands. All told though, any of these brands are good.
