they were just at the level of Iowa. They thought they were going to come in and run through Big XII undefeated. It was going to be too easy. Granted, every fan base has rational people. I'm talking about the majority in this case. They thought they were above the Big XII. Even many of those that were too humble to actually say it out loud. They thought it was a matter of a couple of years before they'd be in the B1G.

I agree they were in the top 10 a lot and there was a perception they were strong. It was a misperception. They were overrated most of the time.
