have fellow students, neighbors, fellow workers and even friends who are "Mormons." So do they hate Mormons? Apparently they do at football games. Probably not so much in their everyday lives, at least they don't dare show it in public.
However, there is a lot of hatred for members of the Latter Day Saint Church. Even in Utah, Churches get vandalized, set fire to, windows broken, torn apart, all that sort of thing. It is rare but it does happen all over Utah.
There is opposition to the Church building Temples in Utah communities as well as in other states. It's not the building, it's that it is a Mormon Temple that is sometimes the sticking point. Another religion might be welcome to build a nice big building.
Some of the bad acting up is due to alcohol and some due to group behavior. A sober individual would not do or say such things. Or beat up their wife in public as one poster above reported.
No one seems to want to do much of anything about bad acting fans, they want the fans money too bad. Plus if a few less BYU fans come to their games that might be OK. A little less money and a little less blue making their fan base look bad.
The administration and local press should be bombarded with complaints though. They already know and don't do anything about it but keep telling them until they can't ignore it any longer.
Or don't attend games there. Hurt them a little in the pocketbook. They probably don't care. They don't like all those BYU fans anyway.
Too bad BYU fans have to be so nice to visiting fans. Seems unfair not to subject them to poor treatment. They worst BYU fans do is offer them ice cream and Cougar Tails.
Well, I'm glad to be on the ice cream and Cougar Tails side.
