Also, you CAN transfer even if you don't give notice during the transfer window, but if you choose to do that, you fall
back to the old rules where you have to have a year in residency at the new school before you're eligible to play in a game.

The problem is they try and line it up with a break in the semester and the playoffs take place in the spring one

There is a transfer portal window that is open for 20 days in December, and then again for 10 days in April.
