"Vegas doesn't need to figure out BYU when they have the bettors figured out. BYU is the opposite of a public team. They draw a lot of heat from emotion bettors who are vested in BYU and XII being bad.

And there is no counterweight because so few BYU fans wager.

So Vegas skews the line by at least a touchdown to try and keep the money even. But even that wasn't good enough. The public perception gets reinforced by the line and then the line gets reinforced by public perception.

By the time the season ends, the line against Houstoh will be 12 points lighter than it should be because everyone will be certain it's when BYU shows their true colors. And BYU will finish 11-1 against the spread."
