I got separated from our group after the game thanks to my wife who tried to bring in a larger-than-allowed purse into the stadium, then I had to run out after the game and get the purse from the company she 'checked' it with..
Anyway, i get the purse... then fall into the mob of people walking along the I-15 side of Allegiant towards Hacienda Ave to cross over I-15. As we get to Hacienda the mob starts going over the concrete barrier rather than walking a few extra blocks to the parking entrance. As i start to climb over (again, mobbed by people) somebody kicks my foot out from under me and i fall ~4 ft head first onto the sidewalk (see photo below i drew up for my son to).
The next thing i remember... I'm over the bridge and going into the hotels (i guess I was picked up, put on my feet.. and kind of carried by a group of Notre Dame fans). All the Notre Dame fans keep asking me "are you ok? Do you need an ambulance? Do you need to sit down?" One of them actually handed me a Pink Box doughnut with the ND logo on it (i was decked out in BYU gear).
Then the next thing i know I'm walking around the hotel-casino.. but nothing looks familiar. Again, a nice ND fan asked if I was lost.
"I'm looking for the Mandalay lobby"
"Dude, You are in the Delano Hotel.. i didn't know BYU fans drank!"
I somehow find my way back to Mandalay Bay and our room... only to find my wife and everybody else waiting (They somehow got a ride on one of those stretch golf carts from the stadium to the hotel).
and that's it.. I don't remember the flight home.
I also don't remember the BYU vs. Boise game the following week.
I was diagnosed with a Subdural Hematoma (a bad one at that).. And was put on the "Make sure he doesn't die" watch 🙂
We beat Notre Dame right?
