He stated that he was finding that it was way too common for player's agents to inflate what one school was offering in an effort to get a little bit of a bidding war going and/or to get a little more out of the school they wanted to attend. He said that he had heard numbers from certain player/agents as far as what a school was offering, and in some instances he knew the coaches well enough that he called them and asked - and the amount being offered was NOT what the player/agent said it was. Definitely inflated.

Of course - that doesn't mean all numbers are inflated.
