I've learned it all starts with the coaches. If they chirp, then parents parrot.
The toughest games to officiate are when the size discrepancy is wide. The smaller team feels like everything is a hold or the playing is too rough. Most the time, there aren't holds but instead legit pancakes and big tackles that can be higher on a players body because one team is bigger than the other.
I assume the playoffs this week will bring out some really heated coaches. I have two high level A team games I'm officiating and I wish I had film like we do for officiating high school games so I can make sure and be prepared.
