Kauai or Maui unless you want Nevada with beaches. Oahu if you want a city
But if you are coming from Utah no way I would go to the big island first time. It is a cool island but more work to get to the cool places. The West side is the Nevada St. George desert with beaches. Beaches are nice but not what I would be looking for in Hawaiian vacation for the first time. Oahu is also meh unless you want to do tourist pcc and Pearl Harbor
