will get one of them. This leaves 6. The B1G and SEC will get at least 2 each of those, which leaves you 2 left. The Big12 and ACC #2 teams would have to fight for those against the B1G/SEC #4 teams. And by "fight" I mean have the CFP committee deem them better at large candidates than the 4th teams from the B1G/SEC. Consider the following SEC/B1G teams listed in the order of how highly they're currently ranked in AP
1) Alabama
2) Texas
3) Tennessee
4) Georgia
5) Missouri
6) Ole Miss
7) LSU
B1G
1) Ohio St
2) Oregon
3) Penn State
4) Michigan
5) USC
So you are potentially asking the CFP committee to choose a say, 11-1 or 10-2 BYU over a maybe 9-3/8-4 Tennessee/Georgia/LSU/Ole Miss, and/or a 9-3/8-4 Penn State/USC/etc. On top of that, although a 11-1/10-2 Big12 runner up would have a strong resume, the problem of perception that comes from the preseason expectations for this team, and lack of star power, would prove a tall hurdle to clear when being compared to the blue bloods. In other words, it is the same problem BYU (and many other outsiders) has always faced.
