There is a simple reason why this won’t happen: $$.
The SEC and B10 will make more money by just demanding 3-4 auto bids from the CFP than they will by inviting a bunch of teams that dillute their per team payout and then creating their own playoff.
And the B12 and ACC will probably go along with it because we all know what the alternative is.

I wouldn't watch a league of just the B1G and the SEC. I'd watch the other league that is formed that has BYU in it.
