Understand that it's extremely rare for any D1 QB to transfer(or as a frosh) and arrive for Fall Ball only and have a decent shot at starting. At least this is how D1 coaches perceive it. Simply check the D1 QB transfers the last 2-3 yrs and see how many transfered for Fall Camp and still started.
Matt's non negotiable desire to get his Holy Cross degree outweighed the handful+ D1s(including some P4s), that otherwise would have swooped him up(& w/ more NIL than UNLV).
And unlike Holker, who would of had 3 to play 2 had he finished the BYU season, Matt would have lost his eligibility had he played the 5th game.
While I too, am raising eyebrows anytime a player quits/transfers in season, not all situations are the same(or even close)...
Hopefully it works out for Sluka in the end. I believe it will.
