This is professional sports - if I was hired by a company with expectations from the company that I would earn a certain amount of money and later found out the $ promised was not there, even after I was crushing it at the job - I would look for a new company.

People need to remember this is no longer amateur sports, this is a career for the athletes - some can use the 4 years of eligibility to set them up for life.
