Some coding, yes, for examples/PoCs. Lots of team coordination, making sure my devs understand the vision and answering
questions. Making sure it’s well documented and as clear as possible in our feature backlog. Making demo videos and feature announcements and documentation. Reviewing completed work to make sure it’s ready for release. Coordinating user testing. Long term roadmaps. Meeting with our vendors for licensing or dependencies we have on them. Billing allocations and budget management. Leadership updates and resource/budget request pitches. Escalations from customers and feedback gathering. Supervisor HR/performance stuff. Cross-product coordination on investments and priorities with other product teams. Industry presentations.


I actually miss the coding days fairly often when it was one well-defined task at a time I was working on. I try to sneak in some days each month where I can dig into code just to try to keep up with the skill (which I’ve already lost a lot of)
