I am a partner at M&A/business broker company, so I see a lot of deals. I think these routes can be a great option but each needs to be evaluated independently. They are certainly not a silver bullet to have less stress and more time, but they are a path to build something for yourself and your family. Almost everyone who buys them are happy with the decision. IMO this is not because they are a better option than other businesses but rather because it is the first time most route buyers become their own boss, and it is rare anyone regrets that decision. Most common complaint I hear about these routes from sellers is how they did not anticipate the HR headache of keeping employees.
I admire so much the people who take the risk of owning a small business. I think 30 years from now we will look at owning businesses the same way we currently look at those who bought real estate before. It is going to be the best source of generational wealth.
Good luck! If this doesn't work out I hope you find another niche that is perfect for you!
