In my experience most cruisers go to get an alcoholic drink first thing, not eat. But sounds like some other people have had different experiences.

Yes, on the cruises I have been on (HA, Princess, RC) - they all have an open buffet place that you can hit once on

Yup. Free lunch on board. Really hard to find a seat though. Everyone stays seated until the rooms are open.
