I didn’t toss the FCS game as an outlier. I removed it for the disparity in competition. He fumbled in that game so it’s not a statistical outlier.
You would expect the fumble rate to increase slightly as the opponents get better. So the NFL fumble rate would be expected to be higher than college, but I’ll have to prove that out.
Last year, 8 QBs averaged more than 1 fumble per game. 5 of them only played in one game. Another only played in two games. Of the two remaining, one is Jake Retzlaff and the other was Heinrich Haarberg who played in 10 games for Nebraska, averaging 1.1 fumbles per game.
Jake is in a class of his own through 6 games.
