Thing with basketball is that it can tap into the social status scene
more effectively than football.
The young tech boosters (and their wives) get scene and can more directly rub shoulders with the other techies/influencers. Not unlike the first few rows in basketball attracting celebrities, etc. These guys are front and center. Not easy to be scene like that in a football stadium.
I've had multiple people explain how that is driving a fair amount of this. So there's a lot of money obviously besides Smith that is funneling in.

I’d guess they’re in the $5MM-$8MM range this year with commitments for much more based on who they are recruiting.
