It was not “to ignore the stolen bases,” the post I replied to talked about the “best hitters in baseball” which is why wRC+ was the correct metric to use. But capturing all of Ohtani’s offense is fair. Fangraph’s “OFF” does that (not sure if there is a better metric to use). Ohtani is still a decent chunk behind Acuña Jr.’s 2023, but we’ll see where he ends up with a good month. He is second in baseball using this metric, so it’s a good call out.
There is no elephant in the room. It is correct to ignore previous seasons when talking about this year only. There is no extra credit.
