The fact is that the US has abandoned the core priciples on which it was founded. Self-ownership, natural/property rights, government by consent, and checks and balances. All gone. And far too many people don't even care that they're gone.
Property rights and contract governance works. No you can't break rules you contractually agreed to and then 'secede', just as you can't with any other contract.
But you don't get to force me into a contract arrangement that I didn't agree to. Our founders fought a revolution to be free from such a coercive leviathan.
