were children of the Depression. So we were very frugal.
Eating out was McDonald's, we all had jobs as teenagers to buy our own clothes. Lots of hand me downs. We had a garden. not a little one my dad rented a half acre to grow vegetables and flowers (that was his hobby, he liked to do the flower arrangements for the pulpit) We also had quite a few fruit trees. We would also go to orchards and pick peaches, strawberries, raspberries and blackberries. We would can fruit, make jams and jellies as well as can certain vegetables.
My parents did this bc they were frugal and their parents did it and it was a family activity.
I wasn't unhappy, it was life and imagine my surprise and my dad's when he found out he was a millionaire before he died.
