Everyone was good at some things and bad at some things and we should use what we are good at to help people. She taught us self confidence and was much better at it than I was with my kids.
My dad died when she was 58 with no marketable skills. She refused to let us help her and went out and got a job. Some of you may have met her. She was the candy lady in the ASB. When they replaced them with students she found another job and worked until 75. Her exit was when her brother, my “rich uncle” died and left her enough to pay off the house and quit working. She is a tough old bird. 83 and in great shape.
My dad got cancer and literally worked sick until a few days before he went on hospice and died. Talk about tough.
All is good. I also never doubted I co trolled my own destiny and I would decide any limitation. I don’t remember being unhappy or feeling without. My dad always taught me that opportunity comes dressed in work clothes. He was a really hard worker. Great example.
My parents gave me so much.
