Is happened to me with Hertz in Germany in 2014.
No issues dropped of the car and guy said it looks great.

Then about 4-6 months later I get a bunch of documents asking for almost $1,000. They produced some very poor pictures of damage taken like a week later—with no evidence tied to me.

I chose to do nothing. They hired an Ohio Law Firm to collect. They asked nicely and I said provide some real proof.

Here is the bottom line: it has been an annoyance.

I showed up to a related rental company who wouldn’t rent to me until I paid. It cost me $ to get another reservation at the last minute.

I still haven’t rented from Hertz and it’s been a decade.

They never hit my credit rating.

Always take a full lap around car with video BOTH before and after. It is the best insurance.

Sorry this happened to you—especially 2 years later.

Oh, and I did dispute it, but you are arguing with the company that is trying to ding you for something you didn’t to 2 years ago.
