Generators that run on propane or NG are far more useful.
Propane stores better and longer than gasoline. NG (If you have a home hookup) will give you an endless supply of fuel.
We have a 500 gallon propane tank buried in our backyard for home heating, water heating and clothes drying. We also have our generator connected to the same tank and can power the whole house with everything on for 30+ days.
