I coached a U8 soccer team with 5 great players
1 was lightning fast and is now a D1 soccer player.
1 was not nearly as fast a sprinter, but went on to D1 track/XC.
1 made the HS team and was a bench player in HS soccer.
2 got cut from HS sports entirely.

My son is good and is just entering HS now. I'd say do as much as he wants to

I was told by a recruiter it's all about Size, Speed and Skill. If low on one, need to be high in another.

It’s a genetic lottery and you won’t really know until he’s actually performing at a D1 level.

Also saw a u10 basketball team go winless, once nearly scoreless, with three future D1 athletes. In a rec league.

Funny to say this. There is a 2012 player in Sandy who has his own channel.
