Based on his ceiling, he was an elite prospect

But only the teams that did their due diligence recognized his potential. I am not say the coaches should have seen a potential future Cy Young candidate. They should have seen someone with some upside that at a minimum could play at a high level in college. Based on how he did with Seattle, the BYU coaches were either wrong or didn’t care enough to do the due diligence
