I really really like this. When I grew up playing Ute conference you just played your division of teams and that was that. So the team that walked through everyone just won a bunch of games and walked into the title matchup. The division champ wouldn’t play the best teams from the other divisions so the new RPI system does away with wondering who the “true champ” is now that the top rated 8 teams league wide enter the championship bradket at the end of the season but the cool thing is the lesser teams still have a bowl bracket where they have their own “championship” to play for with teams that are comparable to them.

This isn’t perfect but it helps prevent numerous lopsided victories and beatdowns.
