Don't get this next part wrong, big fan of Grimes, love what he did for BYU both times he was here, but he was always a short timer and intending to use BYU as a stepping stone. And I've got no issue with that. The man's a good coach with ambition. In fact, the only reason we get Grimes the second time is because he had ambition to be more than just an o-line coach.
Jay Hill also has ambition, no denying that, but it's tempered by his desire to live and breathe in his home state of Utah. The dude has lived something like 3 or 4 total years outside of Utah, and two of those were his church mission years. The man is in no hurry to leave Utah, and in fact, he's been in no hurry his entire coaching career to jump jobs. Maybe that's changed, I don't know, but he did just spend 9 years at Weber State. He simply does not have a history of chasing the next big thing like Grimes does.
