I listened to about 20-30 minutes. A couple things stuck out to me
Seems like well after the fact whatever Brian Santiago said to her is what she wanted to hear and how she wanted to be treated by the BYU athletic administration. So kudos to him for giving her that impression. Apparently he apologized to her and vowed that in the future it would be different for people in her position. I've seen him knocked on this board before, but according to her he was the guy that really did the right thing and approaced her in the right way and treated her the way she thought. She was enthusiastic in her praise of Brian Santiago. So kudos to him.

Seems like the honor code is in conflict with what people want to be the social norms of the day. Not a surprise.

I am bothered that someone that gets pregnant gets kicked out of byu housing for being pregnant. That seems problematic and it seems strange that its legal.

The supposed offer of tuition was interesting. If they have leeway to offer that in situations like that-- it doesn't bother me too much. I think trying to keep things in house and dealing with things internally is generally a good idea and if there is incentive provided I think thats fine. But it is weird because I think hush money is a weird look. So i'm conflicted.

There was a lot of finger pointing that had the general message of everybody circled around brandon but nobody bothered to check in with me and I was the pregnant one. I think thats a valid complaint. I think its an issue with society in general and it may be a problem with our culture as well. And it doesn't bother me that shes sharing that sentiment now with the public. She seemed fair about it all. She seemed fair to brandon. She seemed fair to coach rose and tom holmoe. She has an obvious problem with the honor code. She didn't live it. She dealth with the consequences of not living it. She might have been well served to just abide by the honor code. Would have saved her an unexpected pregnancy with a guy who brought up an abortion right away and didn't want to be with her and was with someone else.

So we all wish it turned out differently. It would have been nice if Brandon wasn't messing around. It would have been nice if the girls in his life weren't messing around. It would've been nice if the people surrounding everyone involved could have helped them prevent making such a big mistake. It seems to me like the aftermath could've been handled better. It seems like the honor code and people in charge maximized the damage and the attention to it all by enforcing things the way they did. I think they should have just let him play out his season. Thats just the way I feel. Supposedly according to her everyone survived and is doing well. Thats good. Thats nice to hear. But yeah it wouldve been nice if that all hadn't happened the way it did.
