I disagree. A family used to be able to have a home, cars, etc…off one income.
Now, a majority of households are two income families if you want to have and do all the stuff you talked about.

I took a class at byu 20 years ago and the professor told us in 1975 a student could work part time and that would make enough money to cover tuition, room and board. Now, a part time job will only cover a small percentage of that. I imagine in the last 20 years that has only gotten worse.

I think it’s a mixed bag. Some things are less expensive and some more expensive. Looking at the current state of things (economy, inflation, etc..) I would guess the standard of living is going to go down compared to what it has been.
