Talk about what you learned that was positive, and how it shaped you. Yes, they might have it at your funeral. I really valued looking at the crazy old artifacts from my grandfather's younger life. It's a really interesting window into what shaped the person.
No, don't hoard everything. But DO keep the things that really had an impact on you. Maybe say you'll have one box of memories and everything has to fit in there. If it gets too full, throw something away so it all still fits. But one box of memories isn't hoarding.
