If we assume (reasonably) that service academies aren't going to scale well going to P5, then there was a clear top 5 available - BYU, Cincy, Houston, UCF and Boise...with Boise lagging behind based on market size.
With those 4 options now off the table, the PAC is looking at
- Boise, with solid viewership and performance, but a tiny market and absymal academics
- Fresno St and/or San Diego St - decent performance, but just nothing as far as viewership goes
- Memphis and/or USF - slightly better viewership with slightly worse performance and absolutely terrible geography for the PAC
- SMU and/or UNLV and/or UTSA - bad at football and nobody watches, but at least they are in decent sized markets?
