The offense’ primary goal is to score. The defense’ primary goal is to get stops
The D should worry about getting a stop (something they were terrible at last year) not about how fast the offense scores.
Because, you know what the defense can control? How long they stay on the field. Get a stop and they’re off.
But keep making every excuse about why the defense shouldn’t own responsibility for being bad…maybe you’ll eventually catch on.

BYU's defense was on the field for 880 plays, their offense for 868. That's a difference of 0.92 plays per game.
