My brother and I were hiking the Uinta Highline trail back in 2017, and we decided to summit King’s Peak when we were going over Anderson Pass. The weather changed in a heartbeat, and the conditions became a whiteout when we were about 1/3 of the way to the summit from the top of the pass. I made the executive decision to turn around (my brother wasn’t happy about it), and I’m grateful that we did because we got into a nasty thunder/hailstorm that dumped about 2” of hail on the ground. We barely made it to the bottom of the pass into the Yellowstone Basin before things got really crazy.
