Almost died while flying a combat sortie in Iraq...AH-64 Apache helicopter

flying lights out (very normal) crossed my flight path as I was coming back to base to land. He wasn't talking to anyone in the tower (also common) and had I not kept my night vision goggles down, I wouldn't have seen him/his aircraft and I wouldn't be here today.
