RE: 2-3 P5s is nothing like 6-7.
I agree, we'd be cutting down somewhat on the P5s (though we've never yet had 7 scheduled in a year 2011-2020, the point is very valid). I think it's worth it, especially since the level of competition isn't that much worse with Cincy, UCF, Houston, Memphis all in the AAC, but I do agree that's a matter of opinion. Similarly view it as a matter of opinion about whether a lot of fan-bases having a very shallow knowledge of BYU (plays once in a decade) or a larger number having a deeper knowledge (playing near-yearly) is better. That one's 100% up to how each one of us weights things. I'm just saying, for me, that's why I'd like to see us in the AAC.

Equal or better money
Better access to NY6
More meaningful rivals
A different type of exposure (arguable whether it's better or not)

Honestly, the best case would probably be something like what Notre Dame has with the ACC. They are half in the conference and half out. If we could have 5 locked-down games with the AAC each season and negotiate the right deal there, while leaving the rest free to schedule P5, that would be ideal. Unfortunately, pretty much nobody but Notre Dame can work deals like that.
