I wonder what the large oscillating magnetic field would do to other things
It'd have to be pretty darn powerful to charge the car.
The article says the FDA tested it to make sure it didn't interfere with medical devices like pacemakers, so maybe it will not be a problem

And it has to be less efficient as well. And that would be on top of charging inefficiencies that already exist.

Probably built to withstand that. But the inefficiency would be my bigger concern.

The biggest advance will be the increase of range on the electric vehicle. Wireless charging is good, but I still go on

This is why they need to build a car where the entire exterior is solar paneling

I could have sworn Fisker did that with one of their vehicles.

If I am alone or just with my boys we can do 6 hour stretches with the limiting factor being the range of our fuel tank.

We have a diesel straight 6 in our SUV. We usually leave either right after dinner or 0 dark thirty to get on the road.

That is a possibility and has been mentioned in some auto industry committees meetings...

Is this the old "solar highways" idea I heard about years ago?

Solar highways has been kicked around for a couple decades, who knows if we'll figure it out anytime soon.

My reading of some initial solar road trials says it has been a failure.

Ubiquitous charging is more urgent than range

Agreed that more charging availability needs to increase. I'm not looking at adding weight of more batteries to increas

After reading the 8-day off road test with the new Rivian, I'm convinced I'd need 800 mile range. The Rivian literally

There is an in-road charging system developed that uses copper set in the road
